So today is the big day as we head to Port Canaveral. Everyone got up and prepared to go. Ginger ran to the boardwalk bakery while Angel waited for a cab from OKW to Beach Club. We have made plans with Happy Limo to ride to the port. Why? We actually had enough people to rent a stretch van and it was cheaper than Disney transportation. The plus side to taking a private service is that you arrive at the port early and can check in before the crowds grow heavy and load the ship fairly early. We were in the 2nd group to load, we got on about 1pm.
Waiting at the port went so quickly. We said good for now to our bags and went through security. Got in line for check in and had only 2 or 4 people in front of us. Got in line for a character picture and we got Pluto!
When they started calling groups it went so quickly.
The walkway to the ship! When we boarded and the Disney characters meet you they introduce your family. I asked and they did introduce us as Beth Ginger and Angel instead of the "Ohlenforst or Blancher or Moore Family. It can be difficult when traveling with friends b/c many things are designed for "families"
After stuffing ourselves with shrimp and crab we head to the wide selection of savory items. My plate is full before crossing even half of the items. I try some steak with green beans, pizza, bread with an olive tapenade, mac and cheese of course and some grilled swordfish.
Ginger starts with sliced roast and horseradish and a wonderful asparagus, artichoke and mushroom salad. Angel tries the fresh roast turkey and penne pasta
We sampled as much as we could and of course had room for dessert. I went with the strawberry mousse Before long we were leaving the port and on our way to a wonderful adventure and Halloween on the High Seas. The seas are a little angy since there is a disturbance in the gule but not bad. We took a tour of the spa which was amazing. I highly recommend touring the spa when you set sail. They let you try a variety of treatments and give you discounts on booking them.We were given a gift of a one day pass to the spa.Dinner our first night is at the Royal Palace. We had the late seating and didn't finish dinner until 10:30...
